Tips on Winterizing Your Home! The cold temperatures are coming and it is time to plan and prepare your home for the winter. Here are three tips:
1. Leaf collection
Put together a plan for your leaf collection. Check your local jurisdiction’s website on tips for leaf collection and if they have a leaf collection program. Also, check the gutters and drains around your property. Make sure the gutters and drains are clear before the first freeze so that the gutter and drain systems continue to keep you home dry.
2. Pest Management
Now is the time to call your pest company for a quarterly service. Have them look at the interior and exterior of your home, and fill any holes, cracks, or crevices. Also, now is a good time to contact your termite company, even if you have had a termite inspection. Termites are active 365 days a year. Colder months are better for treatment as the termite movement is easier to predict in colder months.
3. Heating Systems
Now is a great time to schedule a tune-up with your HVAC company. They will come in and check the system, clean the system, and recommend service that may be needed. Also, if you have not had your chimney evaluated recently, it is time to schedule a chimney sweep. By planning these services, you will be ready for the cold temperatures!
